About Lola
Lola came to Stable and Wild whilst in Year 10. Sadly, due to high levels of anxiety and depression, Lola had become a non-attender at school. Lola had been placed onto Medical Need tuition and was attending online tutoring, however around Easter time her mental health declined, and she was unable to attend the online sessions. Due to Lola’s love of animals, the local authority hoped that she would engage with Stable and Wild enough to build her confidence to return to tutoring.

At Stable and Wild
When Lola first attended the sessions at Stable and Wild, she was immediately engaged with the concept of spending time with the animals but openly voiced her nervousness to attend a new setting. Lola’s coach supported her during this time to understand that building new relationships and confidence in new spaces takes time. Over the time with Stable and Wild, Lola has opened up immensely with her coach and has leaned into communicating her struggles with her coach in order to receive support. She has also spent a large amount of time building relationships with her coach and other young people on the farm, to better enable her to feel safe and confident with scenarios outside of the farm. This support has enabled Lola to confidently move past large issues surrounding drug and alcohol abuse and over the last half term, Lola has returned to in person tuition once a week.
Impact Measures and Outcomes
• Lola has chosen to return to tutoring once a week, in person rather than virtually.
• Lola has sought support surrounding her alcohol abuse.
• Lola is able to engage fully with her sessions on the farm and reflect how she can continue this into her education.
• Lola has expressed that her anxiety and depression is still present, but she feels much more confident to work through her problems.
