For more than 20 years Stable and Wild have worked in partnership with schools across the south east of the country. The challenges facing schools now are probably some of the toughest we have encountered and children are struggling more than ever.
Keeping children in education is one of the key drivers behind the new Ofsted framework and so we thought it might be worth sharing how we are working with schools to support them in attaining the highest standards when using alternative provision as part of their commissioning package.
With the new Ofsted framework now in place (from November 2025), inspectors are looking more deeply at how schools understand barriers to learning, support attendance and behaviour, promote wellbeing, and work inclusively with families — not just numbers on a spreadsheet.

At Stable and Wild, our approach aligns with these priorities in practical, measurable ways:
High Standards in Safeguarding — We operate robust safeguarding systems, work within schools’ own policies and procedures, and share information promptly and transparently, ensuring all learners are kept safe.
Impact Measurement & Reporting — We collect and share clear evidence of progress, behaviour change and emotional regulation outcomes so schools can demonstrate the difference our sessions make to pupils’ wellbeing and engagement.
Attendance & Engagement Support — Low attendance is treated by inspectors as a cultural indicator of how supported pupils feel, not just a statistic. Our work helps children overcome anxiety and re-engage with learning at their own pace, with detailed referrals and shared attendance tracking where needed.
Inclusion & Tailored Support — The new framework emphasises understanding why pupils aren’t accessing school and adapting support accordingly. We tailor our offer to the individual child’s SEMH needs — whether that’s calming engagement with animals, structured routine, or supportive conversation with families — and provide materials schools and parents can use at home.
Active Partnership Working — We attend school and multi-agency meetings, advocate for children and families, and support shared planning — going beyond session delivery to embed our work in the child’s wider support network.
