What do our Parents and Carers think of Stable and Wild?

At Stable and Wild we are committed to supporting young people on their journey to re-engage into learning and education. Our job is to provide support and gentle challenge in an environment where we hope that they will feel safe to explore the feelings they have when faced with different situations.

By experiencing and observing the responses and reactions of the animals and reflecting on these we aim to support children and young people to be confident that they can cope with these situations when faced with them away from here.

Therefore, it is really important for us to gain an understanding of how parents and carers feel the sessions are impacting on their young person’s ability to cope at home, in school and generally in life.

We often reach out to our families to see how they feel we impact the young people we support. Here, in their own words, they tell us…

S is a young man who struggles with social interaction and has anxiety around the upcoming transition from primary to secondary school :

I feel this is a calm environment and he always leaves with a positive mindset

M is experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance and hasn’t been able to attend her secondary school for over a year :

Fantastic provision and environment. Very supportive not just for my child but also for myself. Every staff member I have been in contact with have been excellent.” ” Confidence has been improving, able to share her thoughts, feelings and struggles with her coach. Is starting to put coping mechanisms learned into practice. My child feels Stable and Wild is a safe place and staff care.”

Autism and social anxiety meant A was unable to attend her mainstream school :

A  had been out of school for over a year she had no confidence outside of the house. The relationships she has built with staff have helped to her realise she can make those relationships with others. She has just started a specialist school setting and I honestly do not believe this would have been possible without Stable and Wild.”

A bright and articulate young man, G has a diagnosis of autism and struggled with the social aspect of school, so much so that he became unable to attend :

Their approach feels child-centred, neurodivergent-affirming, and focused on emotional safety, confidence building, and developing trust through positive relationships and nature-based experiences. I appreciate how they recognise individual needs and provide a calm, supportive environment where G can engage at his own pace and feel understood.

I have seen very positive changes in G since attending Stable and Wild. He appears more relaxed, emotionally regulated, and has grown in confidence and trust. The calm, understanding approach and opportunity to engage in nature-based activities at his own pace have been incredibly beneficial for his wellbeing. The compassion, consistency, and genuine care shown by Stable and Wild have made an outstanding difference to him and to us as a family.”
